Sunday Miscellany’s public events have been hugely popular among the programme’s listeners over the past few years, allowing audiences to see and hear the programme recorded, up close.
The programme’s first outside broadcast of 2017 takes place this May Bank Holiday at the Strokestown International Poetry Festival in Strokestown, Co. Roscommon, gathering some of Ireland’s foremost poets, writers and musicians.
Reading a diverse range of new, specially commissioned poems and essays at the event will be Ireland Professor of Poetry Éiléan Ní Chuileanáin, Doireann Ní Ghríofa, James Harpur, Paddy Bushe, Brian Leyden and Noelle Lynskey.
Renowned traditional musicians Patsy Hanly and John Carty, members of the Sligo Baroque Orchestra, and the Cassiopeia Wind Quintet will all perform live at this not-to-be-missed event.
The recording, for future broadcast in the Sunday Misellany slot, takes place at Scoil Mhuire, Strokestown, Co. Roscommon at 12 noon on Monday 1 May.
