Samantha Strachen

Ha! As if there is
objective perfection
the closest
I shall venture
will be
I deal with my problems’
just like anyone else
but there may be something
special –
some ineffable quality
worth striving for
in owning my imperfection.

Samantha Strachen is living in Galway, but is originally from New Hartford, New York. She has a BA in International Human Rights from Hobart and William Smith Colleges, and is currently undertaking  an LLM degree in International Human Rights Law, through the Irish Centre for Human Rights, at the National University of Ireland Galway. A self-professed lover of poetry since early childhood, she fondly recollects reading the poetry and prose of Shel Silverstein which her grandparents impressed upon her throughout her youth.  For Samantha Strachen, ‘poetry is a gift that can adapt with each of us throughout our lives as a means of reflection, growth, humor, and happiness.’
