Strokestown – PoetryTown – 2021
September 11 th to Sept 18 th

Sat. 11 th September
2:30pm Poetry written in Stone. Guided tour of newly launched heritage trail.
Meet at the Magnet Ballroom. Optional – read a poem connected to one of the stops.

Sun. 12 th September
12pm Pop-Up Poetry Nature Walk. Meet at the Woodland Café in Strokestown Park for a nature
themed walk. Optional – bring along a poem inspired by nature to read.

Tue 14 th September
Poetry Workshop in Clooncagh Primary school with local poet Mary Melvin Geoghegan.

Wed 15 th September (To be Confirmed)
Poetry Workshop with Strokestown Women’s Shed

Thur. 16 th September
Poetry Workshop for Transition Year Students, Scoil Mhuire Strokestown

Fri 17 th September (Culture Night)
A Rain of Words- Join us for the unveiling of a specially commissioned poem about Strokestown
by the town’s Poet Laureate Noelle Lynskey. A lively evening of poetry and music, showcasing local
talent, hosted on Facebook by Strokestown Library on Culture Night Friday 17th September
from 4pm.

Joining our Poet Laureate will be Cathy Jordan, singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist and
local poet Gerry Boland.

All Week
Don’t miss “Rainworks” installation by Siobhan Cox-Carlos at Bawn Street,
Watch out for Themed Window displays, Pick up your printed Pocket Poems – beautiful printed
poems, available to take away from local shops and pharmacies.
