We the undersigned being the friends and supporters of Strokestown International Poetry Festival wish to express our disappointment at the loss of Arts Council Funding for the 2016 Festival. We urge the Council to reinstate the grant aid for 2017. Without such funding the future of the festival is imperilled which would have devastating consequences for the promotion of poetry in Ireland and overseas. Strokestown has been providing an accessible platform for emerging & established poets to read their work to appreciative audiences for the past eighteen years.
