Martin Dyar, 2013 Strokestown Poetry Festival Director

Martin Dyar is originally from Swinford in County Mayo. His debut collection, Maiden Names, described by Bernard O’Donoghue as ‘a thrilling new development in Irish poetry’ is published by Arlen House. He has written a play, Tom Loves a Lord, based on the life of the Irish poet Thomas Moore. His work has received a number of honours, including the Patrick Kavanagh Award in 2009 and the Strokestown International Poetry Award in 2001. He has also been the recipient of an Arts Council Bursary Award in Literature. Martin lectures in the School of Medicine at Trinity College Dublin.
