The Hermit Collective, popular visitors to the 20th Strokestown International Poetry Festival earlier this year, have an outing in County Mayo this week, in Charlestown Town Hall Arts Centre on Saturday (August 18th). The Hermit Collective, is a group of local musicians, artists and writers who will be giving a free concert at 5pm, with special guests from the UK, poets Harry Gallagher and pa morbid. His book Northern Lights (Stairwell Books) has just been entered for the Costa prize and is endorsed by John Hegley and Henry Normal. Poet/publisher Neil Fulwood describes him as ‘the artistic and humanitarian successor to Adrian Mitchell’. P.a. morbid runs The Black Light Engine Room Press and lives in Middlesbrough. He is the author of River Songs (BLE Room Press), Gorged on Light (Red Squirrel Press) and Half Life (Hunting Raven). The Hermit House Band will perform their usual eclectic blend of trad music, and there will be singer-songwriters performing, alongside some local prizewinning poets.
