Just one week left to get your poems into three of the Strokestown Poetry Competitions 2018. The International Poetry Competition will be judged by Moya Cannon and Harry Clifton who are on standby to read every entry – there are no filters, the judges see every poem. Top prize is €2,000 with a week’s retreat at Anam Cara, http://www.anamcararetreat.com/ second prize €700, third €500. Five shortlisted poets will also be invited to read at the Festival in May, and will each receive a €300 reading fee and be published in an anthology. Entry is €6 per poem, maximum of 70 lines each, on any subject.
Competitions for Irish language and comic verse are also running. The Duais de hÍde for Irish Language which has a 1st prize of €600, a 2nd prize of €400 and 3rd prize of €300 will be judged by Pádraig MacFheargusa. The Percy French prize for Comic Verse has a 1st prize of €300 and will be judged by Margaret Hickey. Reading fees for shortlisted poets will be given in all competitions. Entry fee €6
