  Strokestown International Poetry Festival 2011
Féile Filíochta Bhéal Átha na mBuillí 2011

How to get there

By air and bus:

To Dublin. There are cheap flights to Dublin from  most provincial UK airports (usually by Ryanair). The sooner you book (online) the cheaper they are. www.ryanair.com
Please note that although you don’t technically need a passport to travel between the UK and Ireland the airlines DO require this form of identity.

There is an airport shuttle bus from Dublin Airport to Dublin's central bus station, Busáras. This takes about 50 minutes.

From Busáras the Ballina bus, service 22, runs direct to to Strokestown several times a day. The journey takes about two and a half hours. Explore this - http://www.buseireann.ie

To Knock Airport in County Mayo.  Again, there are cheap flights to Knock from many UK provincial airports. From Knock Airport a shuttle service (or taxi) takes you to Charlestown, ten minutes away, from where you can catch a bus to Strokestown - again see http://www.buseireann.ie  The journey takes about an hour.

By train from Dublin:
If by some mischance you miss the bus to Strokestown,
Connolly station is just over the road from Busáras, and trains depart from it to Longford town, in Co. Longford. Strokestown is about 30 mins from Longford  and there are taxis at the station. Timetables at www.irishrail.ie

Ferries:
Ferries run by Stena Line and Irish Ferries respectively ply between Holyhead and Dublin - see
http://www.irishferries.com/ and http://www.stenaline.co.uk

When you arrive in Dublin port, take the local bus to Busáras (the Dublin city centre bus station). From Busáras the Ballina bus, service 22, runs direct to to Strokestown several times a day. The journey takes about two and a half hours. Timetables at  http://www.buseireann.ie

Strokestown itself is so small that everywhere is a short stroll from everywhere else - you won't need a car. However there is also a taxi service if you are staying out of town.
